Abstract

1,170,402. Opening containers. CONTINENTAL CAN CO. Inc. 1 March, 1968 [3 March, 1967], No. 10175/68. Heading B8D. An end panel 14 of a can has an area of reduced thickness 23 which permits the upward expansion of the panel when subjected to pressure from the can contents. This upward expansion prevents undue pressure on a scoreline 18 around a ring tab opener 21, and on a peripheral wall 15.
