Abstract

1,163,439. Moulding concrete beams. ALLGEMEINE BAUGES.-A. PORR A.G. 29 Sept., 1966 [7 Oct., 1965], No. 43647/66. Heading B5A. [Also in Division E1] A prestressed or reinforced concrete beam of I, T or hollow box section is manufactured by pre-casting the web 1, or two opposed members (in case of hollow box beam) horizontally, each as a number of plates, then turning the web or members through 90 degrees, and casting the flange or flanges 3, 4 also in a horizontal position. The web plates have reinforcement projecting horizontally from the ends thereof, which are lapped with reinforcement from adjacent plates, a space being left between the adjacent plates which is concreted in to form a vertical rib 14 (Figs. 2 and 3, not shown) between adjacent plates when the flanges are concreted. The web plates are precast with castellated horizontal edges (Fig. 2) to aid bonding. Some of the web plates may be of light-weight concrete.
