Abstract

1,196,403. Floor or roof structures. GEO. SANDS & SON Ltd. 4 Sept., 1967 [3 Sept., 1966], No. 39485/66. Heading E1W. Floor or roof structures comprise a gridwork of principal metal beams 1 Fig. 4 and transcerse metal beams 2 having ends launched for example by the provision of plates 3a and d and a triangular web 3c, and an arrangement of concrete members such as beams 5 spanning between the beams 2 and secured to the beams 2 by cast -in-situ reinforced concrete 4. Shear connectors 9 may be secured to the beams 2 to co-operate with the concrete 4. The spaces between the beams 5 terminating short of the beams 2 may be filled by blocks 6, Fig. 2. In a modification the beams 5 are replaced by beams 14 Fig. 7 having cavities 15 in their upper faces over the beams 2 into which the in-situ concrete is placed.
