Abstract

697,195. Silos. STENT PRECAST CONCRETE, Ltd. May 7, 1951 [April 28, 1951], No. 10012/51. Class 20(i) A precast concrete silo is built up of concrete staves a, b, to form a structure which has bowed walls in plan view, see Fig. 1, the walls being spanned at vertical intervals by horizontally tensioned members c, e.g. mild steel rods, bonding the staves a, b, together. The staves are mostly full length members a having transverse ribs g, h, but half length staves b having marginal ribs g only are used in the top and bottom courses. The rods c lie in the outwardly directed recesses in the staves and are secured at each end by nuts f in end posts e which have holes e<SP>1</SP> to accommodate them. The staves a, b, and endposts e have suitable tongues and grooves i, j, and l, m respectively in their edges to facilitate interconnection, the end posts e being built up by dowels passing through holes k.
