Abstract

1,163,203. Stoppers. CAPTOCAP Ltd. 24 Feb., 1967 [9 March, 1966], No. 8807/67. Heading B8T. A stopper of plastics (e.g. polypropylene), comprises an integral cap 1, an upper outer skirt 2 and an internal skirt or plug 5. A lower outer skirt portion 4 is separated from the upper portion 2 by a gap or slit 3, which extends around almost the whole cap circumference and is bridged by frangible ribs or tack welds 13. External lugs 17 may also be provided. There is a finger grip 19. A hinge 14 may bridge the gap 3 and to hold the cap open a stay 21 is provided. The stopper is removed by first breaking-off the lugs 17, if present, and then prizing up the cap 1 to break the ribs or welds 13. In a modification, Fig. 6, 7 (not shown), a portion (25) of skirt between the skirt portions 2, 4 forms a tear strip, joined to these parts by ribs or welds 13, as before. A screw or bayonet joint may be used on the skirt 2.
