Abstract
1,151,184. Heating combustible mixture; extra air devices. S. KAMIJO and T. TAKAHASHI. May 13, 1966, No.21355/66. Heading FIB. A heated induction manifold 1 comprises a central mixture inlet 3' on its upper surface near to the junction with the rear surface, the induction passages 2, leading to ports 5, 5', 6, 6' in the front face of the manifold, being surrounded by an exhaust jacket 7 with exhaust gas inlets 8, 8', 9, 9', at a lower level than the mixture ports 5...6', and an exhaust outlet in the lower wall of the manifold. A second mixture inlet 3 is provided through which the mixture enters at low speed, both inlets 3, 3', being operative at higher speeds. Tubes 12 forming baffles pass through the jacket 7. In Fig.4 a valve 21, held closed by suction at low speeds, is opened by a spring 22 when the suction decreases to admit air through passage 16 into the mixture conduit 2' to prevent excessive heating.
