Abstract
1,149,080. Kasugamycin. ZAIDAN HOJIN BISEIBUTSU KAGAKU KENKYUKAI. 7 Sept., 1966, No. 40014/66. Heading C2A. Kasugamycin is produced by cultivating a kasugamycin-producing strain of Streptomyces kasugaensis in an aqueous nutrient medium containing assimilable sources of carbon, nitrogen and inorganic salts and characterized in that the main source of carbon is a vegetable oil or fat, an animal oil or fat, a fatty acid or an ester of a fatty acid. Specified carbon sources are soybean oil, coconut oil, peanut oil, olive oil, linseed oil, cottonseed oil, whale oil, lard, palmitic acid, stearic acid, glycerol tristearate, glycerol trioleate, methyl palmitate, methyl oleate, ethyl oleate and butyl oleate. The preferred microorganisms are Streptomyces kasugaensis ATCC 15714 and 15715 and mutants thereof as described in Specification 1,094,566.
