Abstract

1,140,093. Apparatus for casting concrete panels. NATIONAL RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT CORP. 6 July, 1967 [6 April, 1966], No. 15376/66. Heading B5A. Apparatus for casting concrete panels cornprises a battery of moulds 11 defined by a base 14 and a plurality of horizontally spaced upstanding mould members 12, preferably made of concrete. A gantry 22 comprises a roof truss 27, horizontal parallel rails 26 and legs 23, 24 which engage telescopically with legs 19 on the battery panel. Carriages 31 mounted on rails 26 support a transverse rail 32, and a trolley 33, running on this transverse rail supports an electric hoist 36 and a skip 37; the skip carrying the concrete and being adapted to open when lowered on to the mould surface. Carriages 43 also mounted on rails 26 support a platform 45 for the operator and carry a set of vibrators 50 which can be raised and lowered together into the freshly cast concrete. In operation the skip 37 is filled with concrete and by means of carriage 31 on rail 26 and trolley 33 on rail 32 can be moved and discharged over any of the moulds. The concrete can be vibrated while the skip is refilled. When all the moulds of a battery have been filled the gantry can be lifted off by engaging lifting tackle with hook 30, and placed on another mould battery.
