Abstract

1,135,355. Track intersection unit. IDEAL TOY CORP. 9 May, 1967 [28 June, 1966], No. 21477/67. Heading A6S. A toy track intersection comprises a body having at least one pair of crossing guide grooves (12b) and a pair of flexible members (18), slidably mounted on said body, provided with resilient means (springs 30). Each member has an at-rest position from which it may be displaced through a limited stroke against the urgency of the resilient means. In operation, the vehicle guide (17b) in one groove contacts a first configuration (26) on a flexible member and moves it through a stroke (B). This causes a second configuration (28) in the other groove to move from its at-rest position in the groove, allowing vehicle (16a) and its guide (17a) to continue in motion along the groove. During this stroke the first configuration (26) is displaced by camming means (13c) allowing vehicle (16b) to progress to the second configuration (26 on part 20c) on the other flexible member where it is stopped. Vehicle (16a) on its return contacts the first configuration of the other flexible member (26 on 20b) and operates it through stroke A, thereby displacing the second configuration (26 on 20c) from the groove. Vehicle (16b) is now free to progress across the intersection, eventually returning to the position shown in Fig. 5 after which the cycle is repeated. The configurations are preferably triangular, as shewn.
