Abstract

1,131,871. Tandem axle suspensions. HIAB ALINGSASVERKEN A.B. 22 March, 1966, No. 12520/66. Heading B7D. In a tandem axle suspension comprising a longitudinal leaf spring assembly 11 connected to the forward wheels 13, the rear wheels are carried by longitudinal levers 9 pivotally mounted on a transverse shaft 5 and connected by links 10 to the leaf springs 11. A double arm lever 15 is also pivoted on the shaft 5, and has one end pivotally connected to an hydraulic jack 18 while the other is connected to a transverse member 20 having semi-cylindrical end portions 21 which can engage beneath inwardly directed stud members 22 extending from the journal of each rear wheel 8. In the retracted position of the jack 18 the rear wheels are load-bearing, as shown, and by expanding the jack, the members 21 and 22 are engaged and the rear wheels are raised.
