Abstract

A rib fibre pile fabric is produced on a circular machine by feeding the fibres to a doffing roller at a rate less than that at which the needles are capable of taking a maximum amount of fibres and rotating the roller by more than one rotation during the fibre gathering by a selected group of needles such that some needles receive more fibres than others. The accummulation of fibres on the roller prior to the selected needles taking fibres causes the initial needles to receive a maximum or greater amount larger than that received by the following needles. Needle selection can be achieved by pattern wheels and two fibre feeding mechanisms each associated with needle selecting mechanism may be positioned before each feeding station of a multifeed machine.
