Abstract

1,112,647. Advancing mine roof supports. DOWTY MINING EQUIPMENT Ltd. Dec. 28, 1966 [Sept. 30, 1965], No. 41561/65. Heading F1P. A series of advanceable roof supports A, B ... each having pressure operated support props 1, an advancing jack 2 and a pressure operated prop release valve 4, each also has manually operated valves 5, 6 connected to a main supply line P and a return line R, whereby manipulation of the valves 5, 6 on one support e. g. A can cause in an adjacent support B, (a) prop release, (b) support advance, (c) prop setting and (d) the advance of a conveyer acting as a conveyer for the supports. In the neutral position of the manually operated valves 5, 6 of support A, lines 7, 8, 9, 12 are connected to the return line R and valve 4' maintains the props 1' in roof supporting condition. To release the props 1' from the roof, valve 6 is operated to cause pressurization of the line 12 and consequent operation of prop release valve 4', the fluid from the props 1' passing through line 9 and valve 5 to the return line R. Subsequent operation of the valve 5 pressurizes line 8 to cause contraction of the jack 2' and the advancement of the support B. With the valve 6 still in its open position i. e. holding valve 4' open the valve 5 is operated to pressurize line 9 and thus re-set the props 1' against the roof. Closing of the valve 6 allows the prop release valve 4' to close since fluid in line 12 drains away. With the support B now set against the roof, conveyer advance is caused by operating the valve 5 so as to pressurize the line 7 connected to the extending side of the advancing jack 2'.
