Abstract

1,110,607. Knitting-machines. Cleaning spinning frames. CARRIER ENGINEERING CO. Ltd. 16 June, 1965 [19 June, 1964], No. 25552/64. Headings D1C and D1F. [Also in Division F4] A suction tube for a textile machine, e.g. a knitting-machine, drafting or spinning frames, is divided into several longitudinally extending chambers. The tube is closed at its centre and divided into three chambers 35-7 on either side by partition members 29. The air velocity into the tube is greatest at the centre chambers 36. In the preferred embodiment the tube is mounted above the sinker bar cover and the catch bar of a straight bar knitting machine. A brush (26, fig. 2 not shown) fixed to the thread carrier (22) traverses the sinker bar cover and assists in the removal of the lint. Tubes are arranged above each head of a multi-head machine, and the open ends communicate with a common suction duct. The sinkers abut a nylon stop (16 fig. 2 not shown) during reciprocation.
