Abstract

1,108,791. Electro-photographic developer. ADDRESSOGRAPH-MULTIGRAPH CORPORATION. March 16, 1965 [April 6, 1964], No. 11074/65. Heading G2H. Electro-photographic developer powder comprises a magnetic carrier and a coloured toner comprising a blend of a tough infrangible resin and a frangible resin. Polyamides are suitable infrangible resins. Suitable frangible resins are phenolic resins (e. g. diphenolic or phenol/formaldehyde resins, which may be modified with a fatty acid) and the reaction product of maleic anhydride, rosin and a polyhydric alcohol. The toner may also comprise a fluxing agent, e. g. a polyhydric, alcohol, wood rosin, a toluenesulphonamide or butylated hydroxytoluene. In the Examples, carbon black and nigrosine are used as colouring agents.
