Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain magnetic toner having high fixability and superior offset resistance and suitable for heat roller fixing by using crosslinked styrene type resin obtd. by an emulsion polymerization method as a binder for magnetic powder.
CONSTITUTION: Styrene (deriv.), an acrylic monomer, etc. are copolymerized in the presence of a crosslinking agent such as divinylbenzene by an emulsion polymerization method to obtain crosslinked styrene type resin. This resin is used as a binder and blended with a magnetic material such as magnetite, hematite or ferrite with an average grain size of about 0.1W5μ in an amount of about 1W60, preferably 5W40wt% of the total amount of the resulting toner. As a coloring substance known carbon black, nigrosine or the like is blended.
