Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent a secular change in the resistance value of a carrier by mixing and using two kinds of carriers. CONSTITUTION:A carrier of iron oxide powder having a 60mum diameter and a 10<8>OMEGAcm resistance value and a carrier having a 100mum diameter and coated with insulating synthetic resin of a methyl terpolymer, ''Teflon '', etc., by 70% of the surface are mixed in 1:1.5 proportion, and this mixture is further mixed with toner to obtain a developer. When only the iron oxide powder carrier is used, the resistance value increases with time and copy density decreases as shown by a line 1 in the figure; when only the resin-coated carrier is used, the resistance increases and the copy density also increases (line 2). When the both are used by being mixed, constant density is maintained up to 100,000 copies (line 3).
