Abstract

1,210,665. Toner composition. ADDRESSOGRAPH-MULTIGRAPH CORP. Nov. 14, 1967 [Nov. 23, 1966], No.51774/67. Heading G2H. A pressure fixable toner composition for developing electrostatic images comprises an aliphatic component containing an aliphatic compound of preferably 6-25c, a dye or pigment and optionally a thermoplastic material, the said composition having a heat of fusion of from 10 m. cal/mg to 45 m.cal/mg. Specified aliphatic components are fatty acids and their metal salts e.g. Al, Pb, Ba, Mg, Zn the salts and amides (primary, secondary or tertiary), hydroxylated fatty acids, petroleum waxes, ester waxes, animal waxes, chlorinated paraffin waxes; cocoa butter, castor wax, partially hydrogenated castor oil, glycerol monohydroxy stearate and methyl-12-hydroxy stearate. Specified pigments are Nubian resin black, carbon, Neo Spectra black, Nigrosine specified thermoplastic materials are polyamides, polystyrenes, polyethylene, polyvinylchloride, acrylic resins, styrene-butadiene copolymers, terpene resins, aryl sulfonamide-fomaldehyde resins, phenol-formaldehyde resin modified with the reaction product of maleic anhydride and rosin or glycerol or pentaerythritol, rosin, asphalt, gilsonites, and PVC copolymers. The developed image may be transferred to a receiving sheet before pressure fixing.
