Abstract
1,106,381. Hydraulic intensifiers. KEELAVITE HYDRAULICS Ltd. Jan. 6, 1965 [Oct. 6, 1963], No.17887/63. Heading F1P. An apparatus for testing a hydraulic system (not shown) by subjecting the system to liquid pressure in accordance with a predetermined cycle, comprises a pressure intensifier 21 having a high-pressure piston 30 movable in a chamber 31 connected to the hydraulic system and integral with at least two further pistons 26, 22 the faces 24, 28 of which, on initiation of a cycle, are arranged to be selectively pressurized from a source or sources of hydraulic fluid such as to cause the high-pressure piston to apply pressure to the system in accordance with the predetermined cycle. To initiate the cycle a solenoid operated valve 1, Fig. 2 (not shown) is energized whereupon the large piston face 24 of the intensifier is pressurized by a pump 5 via a line 8, the pressure of fluid supplied by the pump being controlled by a relief valve 10. The intensifier piston 30 therefore applies peak pressure to the hydraulic system. The pressure acting on the face 24 is communicated through a line 84 to operate a shuttle valve 2 which causes the pressurization of the intermediate piston face 28 from a line 16, itself pressurized from the main line 8 through a reducing valve 17. The pressure applied by the piston 30 consequently decreases and a timer or a pressure operated valve is arranged to de-energize the solenoid valve 1 to complete the cycle.
