Abstract

1,105,651. Crop sprayers. E. J. BALS. 3 Dec., 1964 [3 Dec., 1963], No. 47802/63. Heading A1D. [Also in Division B2] A portable apparatus suitable for spraying crops &c. comprises a rotary atomizer 6, a flexible reservoir 9 in the form of a squeeze bottle for the spray liquid, and a duct 12 extending from the bottle to the atomizer 6. The atomizer includes a pair of coaxial gauze members 7, 8 mounted on an imperforate member 6a on a shaft 5. The shaft is driven by a motor 2 powered from the mains or by batteries and also carries blades 19 which create an air stream which aids the dispersal of the centrifugaly forced liquid. A nozzle 13 in the end of the duct 12 directs the liquid at an angle of 45 degrees on to the inner gauze 8. In operation a pivoted arm 14 is depressed so that rollers 17 squeeze the bottle 9 and force the liquid into the atomizer. Alternatively the bottle may be located outside a casing 1 and direct pressure may be applied to the bottle manually.
