Abstract

110,249. Garner, H., and Parker, W. J. Dec. 22, 1916. Vaporizers, external; spray carburettors.-The apparatus comprises a vaporizer, a main carburettor for heavy fuel such as paraffin which passes through a throttle valve to the vaporizer, and an auxiliary carburettor, communicating with the induction pipe between the vaporizer and engine, for the supply of light fuel at starting. In the form shown, the auxiliary carburettor 3 has an L-shaped body and a shut-off valve 25. The vaporizer 1 is provided with horizontal tubes 4 traversed by the exhaust, which passes through the lower tubes and returns through the upper tubes. The paraffin carburettor is provided with a rotary throttle valve 11 having openings 12, 13, 14 adapted to register successively with choke tubes each provided wih a fuel nozzle. The small opening 12 serves for slow running, the opening 13 for normal running, and the opening 14 gives an additional supply. The valve 11 may be replaced by a sliding valve, and in the vaporizer the spray may pass through the tubes and the exhaust around them. Specification 32752/10 is referred to in the Provisional Specification.
