Abstract

150,023. Graham, M. T. May 7, 1919. Spray carburettors for use with liquid hydrocarbons, such as benzol, petrol or heavier hydrocarbons, with or without acetylene or other gas comprise a liquid hydrocarbon chamber B separated from a mixing-chamber D by a diaphragm A fitted with a number of wick elements E preferably of cane. Above these is a second diaphragm A<1> with arcuate openings controlled by a shutter G and carrying another wick element E<1> to which the gas may be supplied by a pipe K and controlled by a needle valve L. The wick elements E may be provided with air inlet pipes H<1>, and air may also be admitted through ports I. Additional air may be supplied through a cowl M and adjustable passages N'. The shutter G may be actuated in conjunction with thethrottle valve H.
