Abstract

1,096,932. Eye-examining apparatus. UNITED KINGDOM OPTICAL CO. Ltd. Nov. 5, 1964 [Nov. 6, 1963], No.43822/63. Heading G2J. Optical apparatus for examining the human eye comprises means for projecting an image of a graticule on to an eye and a microscope for observing the eye, said means and the microscope being mounted so that each can move independently of the other, and is characterized in that the graticule is a photograph of a master graticule pattern. A plurality of such graticules is carried on a disc Q which is mounted for rotation about an axis parallel to but spaced from the optical axis of an illuminating device so that any required graticule of the disc may be brought into an opera tive position on the optical axis. Light from a lamp J<SP>2</SP> passes through condensing lenses K and the chosen graticule to an objective L which focuses an image of the graticule on the eye by means of a reflector M<SP>1</SP>. The projecting means and the microscope are mounted for independent rotation on a spindle D<SP>2</SP> by means of brackets F<SP>1</SP>, E<SP>1</SP> respectively. The apparatus is carried by an upper base plate D which is movable laterally with respect to head supporting means carried by a lower base plate A. A second graticule disc Q<SP>1</SP> may be used in combination with the first disc to provide further graticule patterns.
