Abstract

A device for supervising a textile thread e.g. in a winding machine has a thread measuring device e.g. of photo-electric or capacitative type which generates electric pulses superimposed on a base value on the occurrence of thick parts, such as knots or doubles, to trigger a device which prevents further working of the thread (e.g. the winding operation is stopped, a knotting device is prevented from operating or the thread is cut, broken or held fast), the pulses being fed via a direct current amplifier the output value of which does not vary with variations in the input, base value but only with the pulses; thus slow changes in the base value caused e.g. by dust on a photo-electric cell do not trigger off the device which prevents working of the thread.
