Abstract

1,092,573. Rolling. MORGAN CONSTRUCTION CO. Aug. 12, 1965 [Aug. 13, 1964], No. 34507/65. Heading B3M. In a rolling mill the stock is directed into the pass of work rolls 12, 14, Figs. 1 and 2 by a guide 54 comprising a pair of roller holders 82, 84 pivotally mounted between side members 72, 74 carried on a base 56, guide rollers 88 on the end of the holders, a screw 102 for varying the distance between the rollers to accommodate stock of varying cross-section, and a second independent screw 104, for axially aligning the rollers with the work roll pass. Holders 82, 84 have stock guiding portions 108 110, Fig. 5, attached to their inner faces to form a stock entry guideway 112. The guide roller surfaces and work rolls are water cooled, and the bearings 151 for the rollers are water cooled from a water hose 125, Fig. 2. A number of guides 54 are keyed to a saddle 24, Fig. 8, at 50, and clamped by clamps 66.
