Abstract

A liquid aqueous herbicidal composition comprises a 4,4\sv-bipyridylium salt and a regulator which is an organic compound containing N=C or N-C=(O or S) and which is selected from amides, carbamates, anilides, alkoxyureas, diazines, 2-alkoxy- or alkylthio-4,6-di (alkylamino)-s-triazines, N,N\sv-dimethyl-N-phenyl urea, semicarbazides, iodoacetamide, thiocyanates, formylhydrazine, hydrazides, acetoxime, 3-(3-chlorophenyl) thiazolid-2,4-dione, 3-(4-chlorophenyl)- 5-isopropylidine-4-oxo-2 - thiothiolazolidine, 8-hydroxyquinoline and o-phenanthroline. Surface active agents and corrosion inhibitors, e.g. sodium nitrite, sodium molybdate and sodium metaborate also may be present.
