Abstract

A disinfectant composition comprising (a) a suspension of salicylanilide in water optionally containing a dispersing agent; (b) a solution of salicylanilide and ammonia in water; or (c) a suspension of salicylanilide in water containing ammonia sufficient to dissolve a minor proportion of the salicylanilide is used in treating artificial sponges to preserve them from decay by fungi or bacteria.
