Abstract
To reduce or prevent the formation of slime in industrial water, one or more olefinically-unsaturated aliphatic aldehydes which may be of the general formula <FORM:0873800/VI/1> where R is hydrogen or an alkyl radical containing not more than 5 carbon atoms is or are added to the water, e.g. 0.5 to 15 parts of acrolein or methacrolein may be added per million, e.g. with other slimicides and/or other chemicals, e.g. formaldehyde.
