Abstract
1,084,639. Knitting-machines. M. K. M. KNITTING MILLS Inc. Nov. 9, 1965, No. 47546/65. Heading D1C. A full-fashioned machine has a loose point bar shiftable several needles spaced by a fluid operated piston, to effect a cable stitch. The mechanism for transfer in one direction - the right as shown, comprises a cam block 96 mounted on a slide 98 fixed to the point bar and a rotatable cam block 122. One end of rod 118, passing through block 96 is secured in block 122 and the other abuts the end of piston 174. The piston is enclosed in a movable cylinder 160 secured to block 96 by a strut 166. Before each loop transfer the point bar and slide are spring biased to the left until stop 94 abuts a pattern peg 80. When the loops are engaged air is admitted to the right hand end of the cylinder. The cylinder, block 96 and slide 98 are thus pushed to the right until the block abuts stop 127. The extent of the transfer is determined by the position of the stop, whose position is fixed by the height of the abutted peg 80. After the transfer, air enters the left hand end of the cylinder, and the slide returns to the neutral position shown, loops may be transferred one needle space in the opposite direction by rotating the cam block 122 so that block 96 engages its low portion.
