Abstract
1,079,231. Photographic reproducing apparatus. HALL HARDING Ltd. Jan. 13, 1965 [Oct. 14, 1963], No.40408/63. Heading G2A. An original is placed face down on a stationary glass sheet 2 and a mercury vapour lamp 58 or a linear tungsten filament lamp traversed to and fro across the apparatus under the sheet 2, the lamp having reflectors 16, 18 of elliptical cross-section on either side of it, the reflectors being arranged to define a gap 20 between them through which gap light is focused in a narrow strip on to the original. A mask 21 having an aperture 21<SP>1</SP> is mounted for movement in line with the gap 20 and the centre of a lens system 6, so that light from the illuminated strip of the original passes through the mask and lens system, and is reflected by a mirror 8 on to a sheet of copy material 10 on a stationary glass sheet 12. In another embodiment Fig. 2 (not shown) the sheet (2) is curved and the strip illuminating assembly includes a carriage which runs on curved tracks, an arm (28) pivoted in line with the optical centre of the lens system and being pivoted also to the carriage carries the mask (21) and is actuated by an arm (36) at constant speed to obtain an even exposure. In other embodiments, two lights may be provided Fig. 3 (not shown), or two masks Fig. 4 (not shown). To obtain an even exposure, the carriage speed may be varied, or the emission of the lamp varied, or the mask may be waisted Fig.6 (not shown) and the exposure time increased where the light is less intense. The lens system (6) may be carried on the arm (28) Fig. 7 (not shown), or a concave mirror (90) Fig. 8 (not shown) may be used instead of the lens system 6 and mirror 8.
