Abstract

106,338. Larsen, B. May 23, 1916. Cutting and slicing vegetables &c.-Turnips and the like are cut into rectangular pieces by a machine comprising a hopper 3, a casing 1 along which the turnips are carried by a worm 6 on a shaft 5, stationary inwardly projecting cutters 12 partly sunk in each other and rotating cutters 9 mounted on the end of the worm shaft 5. The junction of the hopper 3 and the casing 1 is formed with a sharp edge 4. The number of the movable and the fixed cutter blades may be varied. The machine is supported upon a frame 23 and is secured thereto by a tie 24 and nuts 26. The end of the shaft 5 is provided with a conical guard-piece 22 to keep the turnips away from the end mounting.
