Abstract

[Also in Division F2] A strain relief bushing of dielectric material for holding an electric conductor in an aperture in a panel comprises a shank 2 and a grip block 4 which are connected by a flexible strap 3 such that when the grip block is disengaged from the shank, the former is held away from the axis of the letter. The shank 2 is provided with a channel 5 which is recessed at 16, the lateral walls of the recess being grooved to form keyways 18 to guide a conductor gripping tongue 23 of the grip block 4 into the recess. The shank 2 and grip block 4 are each formed with a flange 7, 21 (not shown), such that on the assembly of the bushing a peripheral annular flange is formed. Grooves are formed adjacent the flange to lock the bushing in the aperture in the panel. The locking means may comprise one or more fingers formed at the end of the shank remote from the flange and extending toward the flange, the fingers being provided with shoulders which, in use, lock against the periphery of the aperture (Figs. 11, 13, not shown). In a modification (Fig. 12, not shown), the end of the shank having the flange is formed with a portion which closes the axial end of the channel, an aperture being provided transversely of the channel such that the conductor is bent through a right-angle in its passage through the bushing.
