Abstract

1,034,996. Making electrical connections. AMP Inc. April 20, 1965 [April 23, 1964], No. 16465/65. Addition to 956,118. Heading B3A. [Also in Division H2] A terminal part 2 is secured to a panel board and serves as a receptacle for a tab 18 which is slid between the inwardly turned edges of side walls 8 and a web 6. An insulated conductor is trapped between the tab 18 and the web 6 and is dragged along with the tab, the ears 22 of which form a recess for the insulation of the conductor. The tool for carrying out this process has a channel-shaped mandrel (Fig. 3, not shown) along which the tab is pushed into the receptacle, engaging the conductor and severing the insulation thereof on its way. The slots allow for separate deflection of the side wall portions so that conductors of different diameters may be securely held.
