Abstract

1,163,085. Two-part couplings. PLESSEY CO. Ltd. 26 Jan., 1967 [18 Feb., 1966], No. 7223/66. Heading H2E. In an electrical connector having resilient locking stems 3, 4 on one connector part which snap-fit in lugs 19, 20 on the mating connector part to hold the parts together, the stems and lugs are arranged to polarize the connector. This may be done by making the pairs of complementary stems and channels in the lugs of different widths and providing pairs of complementary projections and grooves, 11 and 21, 12 and 22, also of different widths. Alternatively, the stems and lug channels and also the projections and grooves are of the same width and the projections 11, 12 are differently displaced from the centres of the stems. In a further modification, stems 3, 4 are provided with grooves which co-operate with complementary projections on lugs 19, 20.
