Abstract

1,032,745. Pipe joints. AVICA EQUIPMENT Ltd. March 14, 1963 [March 28, 1962], No. 11922/62. Heading F2G. A flexible pipe coupling comprises two endpieces 2, 4, connected one to each pipe and connected to each other by a flexible tube 10, the end piece 2 having a part-spherical outer surface 14 against which a follower 18 rigidly connected to the other end-piece engages with line contact. The flexible tube is a bellows 10 which is fastened to the end-piece 2, 4 by welded rings 12 so that fluid-tight joints are made. The follower comprises a ring 18 and a cylinder 20 which connects it to the end-piece 4, the ring 18 having a rounded periphery 16 which makes line contact with the spherical surface 14 and the cylinder 20 being perforated for weight reduction and to facilitate inspection of the bellows. Shoulders 22, 24 on the ring 18 limit the flexing movement.
