Abstract
454,225. Pipe joints. PICKFORD, W. E., 7, Stumperlowe Park Road, Sheffield. March 23, 1935, No. 9097. [Class 99 (i)] A joint between pipes A, A<1> comprises an intermediate tube B which is smaller than the pipe A or an extension E thereof, flexible packing being compressed and arranged in a flanged coupling member F in such a way that the tube B is capable of angular and longitudinal movement. The packing ring H is of rubber and the rings G, I of an " antifriction " material, for example, a textile material impregnated with grease. The tube B may be connected to the pipe A<1> by a similar stuffing-box joint or by a coupling sleeve C and locknut D.
