Abstract

1,019,007. Battery charging systems. VILLAMOSIPARI KUTATO INTEZET. Sept. 20, 1962, No. 35919/62. Heading H2H. [Also in Division G3] A circuit for providing constant current in a load 1 such as a battery up to a determined voltage after which the voltage is maintained constant or at some gradually rising value comprises a current measuring circuit 12, 14, 17 18 producing a voltage which is compared with that across a Zener diode 15, the error controlling an amplifier 22, 24 which varies the current in a transductor control winding 8 or field winding 11 of a generator. The circuit is arranged so that transistor 24 functions as a switch. A diode 27 provides a discharge path for the electromagnetic energy in the winding 8(11) and another diode 28 limits excessive voltage across the transistor 24. When the potential across the voltage measuring circuit 13 exceeds that across a current measuring circuit 14 a diode 21 blocks and another diode 16 unblocks taking over the control of the circuit. The circuit may have provision for manual control. The resis tor 13 may have an amplified ripple fed into it (Figs. 10-12, not shown) to accentuate the switching function of transistor 24.
