967,531. Automatic voltage control. TELEFUNKEN PATENTVERWERTUNGS G.m.b.H. March 13, 1963 [March 15, 1962], No. 9878/63. Addition to 957, 548. Heading G3R. The voltage regulator described in the parent Specification is provided with a modified overcurrent protection circuit. As shown, when the regulator is used with a capacitor 13 connected across output terminals I, II this capacitor would act as a short-circuit when the regulator was initially switched on, because of its charging current, and cause the protective circuit including transistor 2 to operate, whereby no output would result. However, the provision of a capacitor 14 connected as illustrated causes the voltage at the base of transistor 2 to rise more slowly than the voltage across the output terminals; the protection circuit thus becomes fully effective only when the capacitor 13 is fully charged and premature operation is prevented. A thermistor or an inductor; connected in place of resistor 1, may replace the capacitor 14, or the three elements may be used in any combination.
