Abstract

1,009,372. Spindle-arrangement. SPINDELMOTOREN UND MASCHINENFABRIK A. G. Feb. 17, 1962 [Feb. 17, 1961],No.1115/62. Heading D1D. [Also in Divisions F2 and H2] In a spindle arrangement comprising an electromotor of which the rotor 19 and stator 18 are respectively fixed to a spindle shaft 5 and a bearing sleeve 4, the latter containing foot and collar bearings 6, 11 for the shaft, the sleeve is resiliently supported for lateral oscillation in a housing 1 adapted to be mounted on a frame 3, the sleeve and housing being connected to each other by resilient means located within the stator. In Fig. 1, the resilient connexion is provided by spaced and staggered slots 14 in the housing while that part of the housing above the slots is turned over and shrunk to compress axially towards a flange 7 on the sleeve an assembly of rings 9, 12 and the race 10 of the bearing 11. The stator is carried between end-rings 20 on a sleeve 16, the lower ring being accommodated on a shoulder of the sleeve while the upper one is mounted between a spacer 22 and a circlip 23. The sleeve is forced over the upper part of the housing, the exterior of which is slightly conical while the bore of the lower part of the sleeve is larger than the external diameter of the housing to allow the sleeve 16 and the stator to follow lateral movement of the sleeve 4. In other forms, the resilient connexion is provided (a) by replacing the slots in the upper part of the housing by slots in a member depending from the flange 7 between the sleeve and the housing and forced into the bore of the housing and the sleeve that carries the stator is forced over the upper part of the sleeve which accommodates the upper bearing (Fig. 2, not shown); (b) by integral or separate parallel and angularly offset ring segments connected by bridge-pieces; (c) by an annulus of steel of U- section; (d) by a diaphragm with or without perforations; (e) by a spring or (f) by a compressed rubber sleeve. In another form, the stator is arranged outside the rotor and is supported by a cylindrical casing outside the stator connected to the housing or sleeve 14 above their yielding connection. Specification 725,245 is referred to.
