Abstract

930,278. Rollers. SKF KUGELLAGERFABRIKEN G.m.b.H. Feb. 16, 1960 [March 6, 1959], No. 5516/60. Class 42 (2). [Also in Groups IX and XXXIV] A roller for a textile drafting apparatus comprises a solid shaft 10 on each end of which is mounted a roll 12. Each roll has a tubular member 22 running on rollers 18, 20 and an outer elastic cover 24 mounted thereon, the two being detachably connected by a spring clip 34, a flange 36 of which engages a spring ring 40 inside the cover 24 while a bead 38 engages a groove 38<SP>1</SP> inside the sleeve 22. A dustexcluding arid lubricant retaining ring 31 is mounted at the outer end of each roll on the shaft 10 and is held in position between a pressed-on end-piece 32 and a flange 14 on the shaft. At the inner end of each roll a ring 33 mounted on the shaft acts as a dust excluder while the shaft closely approaches the member 22 to retain lubricant. The rings 31 and 33 are elastic and preferably made of a polyamide resin. Other designs for ring 31 are also described.
