Abstract

1,071,709. Bearings. DtRKOPPWERKE A.G. Sept. 6, 1965 [Sept. 7, 1964], No.38042/65. Heading F2A. An outer race (3), Fig. 1 (not shown), of a roller bearing has a part-spherically shaped outer periphery, the generating radius of which is at least twice the diameter of the outer race. The bearing is mounted in a cylindrical bore of a ring (6), inwardly directed flanges (7, 7<SP>1</SP>) of the latter being received by stepped portions (5, 5<SP>1</SP>) of the outer race (3), sufficient clearance being provided to allow the required amount of self alignment to take place. Rollers (2) are retamed axially by inwardly-directed portions (4, 4<SP>1</SP>) of the outer race (3). In a modification, the flanges (7, 7<SP>1</SP>) are replaced by inserted rings (17, 17<SP>1</SP>), Fig. 2 (not shown), the portions (4, 4<SP>1</SP>) are replaced by inserted rings (16, 16<SP>1</SP>) and the rollers (13) are retained axially by a cage'(12).
