Abstract

1,007,373. Selective printing. OKI ELECTRIC INDUSTRY CO. Ltd. July 12, 1962 [July 20, 1961], No. 26910/62. Heading B6F. In a high-speed printer for printing a line of characters under the control of a computer and memory device and wherein the type 4 are mounted on an endless belt 3, and a number of hammers 5 equal in number to the number of characters in a line are arranged along a straight run of the belt so that a line of characters is printed during one rotation of the belt, the straight run passes through a guide 1, 2 engaging the type-carrying members 7 both at the front and at the rear so that the impact of the hammers is taken by the guide. Each member 7 has two rearwardly-projecting legs 8, 9 which pass through the belt 3 so that their inner ends abut against the surface 10 of the guide. A tubular member 14 surrounded by a spacing sleeve 13 extends through holes in the legs 8, 9 and is engaged by the ends of a C-shaped clips 15 so as to secure the member 7 detachably to the belt. Inwardly extending edges 21, 22 on the part 2 of the guide engage the outer faces of the members 7 so as to hold the legs 8, 9 against the surface 10. Grooves 23, 24 engaging the edges of the members 7 may be provided in the part 2 to further assist in taking the impact of the hammers. Specification 918,769 is referred to.
