Abstract

A clamping device see Fig. 1 for holding a member 20 against a guide member 19 comprises a ball 17 positioned between a spring-loaded wedge member 1 and an intermediate member 9, the ball 17 projecting through an aperture in the side wall 14 of the intermediate member 9 to clamp member 20 against the guide member 19. The member 20 is released by depression of the wedge member 1. In an alternative arrangement, where the member to be clamped is a cylinder, the guide 19 is omitted and a pair of balls are positioned on opposed sides of a frusto-conical shaped clamping member and project through apertures to engage the cylinder. The device may be used, as illustrated in Fig. 8, for clamping a slicing disc 60 to a kitchen machine, and in this case the spring means comprises a helix 59 positioned around a bar 49 carrying the clamping member.
