Abstract

1,004,795. Winding bobbins. CHADWICK MACHINE CO Ltd. Aug. 10, 1964 [Aug.14, 1963], No. 32040/63. Headings D1D, D1J and D1N. A cheese-winding mechanism for woollen system tape condenses comprises a driving drum 4, guides 10 for spindle 11 of bobbin 7, and fluidpressure operated cylinders 12 at each end of the drum with the rods 14 thereof carrying pressure members 15 bearing on the spindle. The cylinders are pivoted at 13 to allow the wound cheeses to be removed on to rests 19. There may be a central frame, Fig. 4 (not shown), having separate cylinders for the ends of the two bobbin spindles supported thereon. A series of rubbed slubbings from a tape condenser may be wound in separate cheeses on one bobbin 7. The pressure in cylinders 12 may be constant or may be diminished as the weight of the wound packages increases. Guides 10 may be vertical or slope upwardly or downwardly.
