Abstract

1,004,201. Electric measuring Instruments. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. April 24, 1964 [Aug. 2, 1963], No. 30774/63. Heading G1Q. In a taut-band instrument in which the suspension comprises at least one flexible taut-band, the band is fastened by having an end portion clamped by and between and secured to a pair of rods arranged side by side in a slot in which the assembly is a tight fit. As shown, a moving coil 1 is supported by two taut-bands 7, 8 within a magnetic structure 4. One end of band 7 is clamped between a pair of rods 15, 16 to which it is soldered as at 21 and the assembly is inserted into a slot 14 in bush 9. The other end of band 7 and both ends of band 8 are similarly secured in bushes 10, 23 and 24. Bushes 10 and 23 are attached to the coil by clamping plates 5 and 6 and bushes 9 and 24 are mounted in tongue portions of spring plate members 2, 3 which may be bent out of their original planes to produce the required tensioning of the bands.
