Abstract

100,333. Scott, B. D. March 27, 1915. Channels in connecting - r o d s , cranks, and revolving - cylinder engines. - The radial or revolving cylinder engine described i n Specification 4769/15, [Class 7 (vi), internal-combustion engines, valves &c. for], is lubricated, by oil forced through a pipe P in the crankshaft to annular spaces P<3>, P<4> in the crank - pin, whence it passes through openings Q, R, W to lubricate all the connecting- rod bearings, and also through the hollow connecting-rods to lubricate the gudgeon pins and cylinder walls. The oil also passes along a channel P' to an annular space P<7>, whence, after lubricating the ball bearings and valve-operating gear-wheels, it is thrown centrifugally through the tappet and push rods T, T' to lubricate the valve rockers T<2>. The ball bearings A, B are lubricated through grooves (not shown).
