Abstract

The evacuation bowl (10) contains a cylindrical fine mesh filter (11) with vertical axis, within which a coarse filter (12) leads at its base (13) into the settling chamber (14). The pump (16) is connected to the outlet port (15) for drainage of water after washing. The trap (18) comprises a comb of parallel teeth (19) projecting vertically from the base of the settling chamber (14) approximately into the centre of the port (15), which is thus partially obstructed, but little resistance is offered to the flow. The rearward-facing edges (21) of each tooth are sloped so that solid particles (22) slide into the base (20) of the chamber, whence they are collected for disposal when the filters are withdrawn for cleaning. This trap can retain solids which have already passed through a coarse filter.
