Abstract

The 'T' shaped connector joins branch pieces to existing high pressure pipes. One method for joining a saddle piece (26), to form a junction in an existing pipe, uses a solder grid (31), sandwiched between the saddle piece and the existing pipe (30). Two clamps (29) temporarily hold the saddle in position. An electrical current, is passed through the grid (31), creating heat and fusing together the saddle piece and pipe. A hole is drilled through the saddle into the pipe, creating a junction.
