Abstract

A twisting machine comprises a central framework with >=1 level of parallel work positions, each comprising a vertical spindle supporting a yarn bobbin. The spindle assembly is driven by an endless belt in tangential contact with a driving pulley mounted on each spindle. The tension of the belt is maintained by means of pulleys acting in opposition on the two lengths of the belt. Each pulley device comprises horizontal plate mounted to slide on the frame of the machine, and supporting the eccentric pulleys each of which is disposed at its edge to face the internal surface of the belt. the spacing between the two pulleys is adjustable, but is held at a predetermined distance during normal running. The device for tensioning the driving belts is simple and effective, and permits a change of direction of the rotation of the motor, without adjustment of the pulleys. Previously known sprung or pressurised tension devices have given rise to oscillation, and consequent friction and wear to moving parts. The present invention provides a regular, even drive for the spindles, in relation to each other, without the problems previously encountered.
