Abstract

The machine for generating power from wind or flowing water consists of an inclined frame (4) carrying two parallel horizontal shafts (16, 18) mounted one above the other. Each end of these shafts carries a pulley (13, 15) and the pulleys are connected by belts (34). Aerofoil blades (38) are connected to the belt (34) at such an angle that a lifting force is created by the blades (38) facing the incoming air. The air passes through the central guide vanes (11) and then flows over the blades on the other side of the belt (34). Additional power is generated by exerting a downward force on these blades. The machine is thus more efficient than a conventional windmill.
