Abstract

The pneumatic screw-driver has auto-arrest which takes place when the driver (6) has advanced a specified adjustable distance. Screws can, thus, be driven into friable material, e.g. plaster, without damaging it. The arrest-mechanism inc. a slide (20) which is displaced by a cam (19), with the cam motivated by the drive-casing (1) encountering an adjustable nose-stop (28). Axial reciprocating rods (15, 16) between the driver (6) and a ball-valve (13, 14) control the motor feed (12), with the valve opening as the drive casing (1) advances relative to its mountings (2, 3). The slide (20) is notched (18a), slides transversely in the drive-block (9), and is displaced by an axially mobile annular cam (19).
